My Dear Friend, I thank you very much for the sending of the council literature, which I was just wanting, and let me tell you, how deeply touched I was by the kind letter you addressed me.
I am sorrow, indeed, not being able to attend the Congress and missing the occasion to meet you, but there will be my proxy, Dr. Kazakevitch Stefanovsky, and my good friend, Mme Marie Boubnoff, with whom, I beg you, to talk confidently on all, concerning the Council idea, in which we are deeply interested. They will come, both, a little earlier to London, being appointed delegates to the "White women's traffic" conference.
I shall be glad to send you information about woman's work in Russia, but I will not be able to do it before autumn. Meantime you can get some suggestions from our papers, read at the congress, or take them through personal acquaintance
You must not forget, Dear Sisters, that our way towards light and liberty is difficulter than yours and, therefore, our progress must be considered on another point of view - not too severe.
Our speakers are bringing you accounts of our historical developement, our struggles and our conquests. Not long ago, since 1860th, under the reign of tzar Alexandre II, the slavery bonds of our people were thrown away and the moral awakening of the russian women took place. Since then she goes forward and her steps become surer, her sight clearer and her hopes stronger. You see, that the Council Idea from its cradle, America, has already flown through the ocean and makes thrill our hearts in common sympathy. I welcome heartily this slight, moral tie, which will surely produce strong, international Unity.
