SALAZAR, FANNY Z JAN 7 1902

Majestic Hotel Central Park West 72nd Street New York City

January 7th 1902

My dear Friend

Thought you never answered my last letter, I fear you may think I am back home, and I write again to have you hear my work is progressing and I do not wish to return to Italy until I have completed all regarding it. I have a great success in Boston where Mrs. Julia Ward Howe did all she could for me and suggested to have my work help practically by collecting subscriptions in place of shares and people here know not our Italian laws which protect shareholders from any sort of liabilities in case of failure. So Mrs. Julia Ward Howe thought I could raise the needed rest of the capital to incorporate my publishing company by collecting two thousand subscriptions to a year of "The Italian Review" of five dollars each. This is being actively done in Boston and neighbourhood. Can you send me

some introductions for New York? I know many here, but the more I can interest in the enterprise the sooner I will be able to return and resume regularly my work I am very anxious to go on with. I [?] a delightful week at the Italian Emassy and then was up to new year's day in Boston. Now I stay here until I have collected in shares or in subscriptions the ten thousand dollars I need to incorporate the publishing company of the Italian Review.

I have already a good part of the sum and hope to get soon the rest as the weather is very trying here and I feel quite homesick for my children and my beautiful Italian [?]!

Who is the Vice President of the National Council of Women in New York? Let me have an introduction for her Mrs. Ward Howe thinks the Italian Review can be a great use to women. She understood all about it as you did when I wrote to you in Paris - but I could not explain better

all the improvements I have [balanced?] to make it well adapted to the International Council of Women. Of these ideals of this Council I spoke in all my lectures. Trusting to hear soon from you and hoping you might come to New York before I leave, I remain ever with faithful love

Most aff'ly yours Fanny Zampini Salazar

P.S. I enclose a stamped envelope to that you may enclose as soon as possible your answer.
