1/ The Worlds Congress of representative Women at Chicago 1893. Since Columbus discovered Amerika never so many vesels crossed the Atlantic than in the year of grace 93. Every berth was engaged [settled] upon months in advance. Not only the World's fair attracted people to cross but quite as much the congresses. That these two events should take place at the same time was the brilliant idea of Mrs May Wright Sewall of Indianapolis. Therefore it was only just that the Women's Congress should open the long train of Meetings. Many tongues were spoken at this occasion, but English proofed the Valopik of the day. All the Lady - Deleguets, who flocked together to this Congress, came with the best intentions to offer their best and to be most agreeable to that what others would give. Therefore the greatest harmony reigned during this Congress-Week which we spent as guests of the amicable American Ladies at the Palmer Hotel.
