712 Cambridge St., Carn., Mass. April 15, 1882. Mr. Sewall, Dear Sir:

Catalogue and letter rec'd. With regard to the studies mentioned - I have taught Arithmetic three years; in Algebra and Geometry have given some private instruction; and as I mentioned in my last, have studied Greek and Latin with the express intention of teaching them, and so I feel all right as regards two; I have only a little acquaintance with German, and have read considerable French but should not feel competent to give instrucion in it without study.

able to give good instruction in all but these two languages. I should much pefer not to take work in them, if possible, until farther advanced in them myself.

During my former teaching I have had from forty to sixty pupils under my charge. I understand the necessity of elementary work in a school of this kind, and I could wish for nothing beter than to give such thoroughly to girls, and open to them the paths, in the higher branches, which I have found so pleasant in my work here and elsewhere.

Of my ability, of course, I must leave the decision to ohers, But, should we come to an agreement, I can only assure you of a heart-

I shall be pleased to give you any further information desired, and hope to soon hear definitely from you as to what studies you would wish me to take in case I should enter the school.
