I am in receipt of
part of a letter being copy of one
by JM Kerr F.O. relative to
planting Sal Trout, and White
fish, in the Welland Canal:
what the latter part of Mr Kerrs
application may be I cannot
at present tell,--But I cannot
see any reason why a number
of Sal Trout and white-fish
might not be planted in the
Welland Canal, simply as a
field for distribution; but it can
not be expected that any of
these will ever reach maturity
there, or that, they will ever be
caught, or Even fished for
from a commercial stand point
in such circumscribed limits
as a canal -- I return the
copy for the balance of the letter
