Fish-breeding purposes should be
expertly utilised, and suitably arrayed
for a complete display of Fish Industry;
I have to suggest that, the Upper Storey
of the building be wholly devoted to the
Exhibit of Nets of all kinds, models of
Boats, and fishing gear generally.

That the ground floor be expressly
used for Mounted Specimens of fishes,
and for Alcoholic and other [beautiful?]
modes of preserving fish and

That the lower or cellar flat be
fitted up hereafter for carrying on
Artificial propagation of fish by the
most approved methods, where space
will be found for hatching many
millions of fry annually.

It will be needless for me to
offer to your Department any further
evidence of the great and increasing
popularity of the present Fishery
Exhibit, than to refer to daily reports
of visitors to that Institution, which
by the names found in it, of legislators,
Scientists, and thousands upon
thousands of the public generally,
give the utmost evidence of the
increasing interest taken in this
Museum, as a resort for obtaining in-
formation, and practical knowledge
