July 12 [187]6

Mrs. H.W. Spalding
Lot 610

Dear Madam

Your favor
of 10 July was received this [morn?].

I will have the fence painted
and the Mont cleaned which
will not cost more than $7.50.

This shall be done by Saturday
July 15.

The grass remained on the lot
so late ([ei?] June 15) that the sod could
hardly be expected to look very well
and this, added to the extreme dry
weather since has damaged the sod
in 610, as on many other lots.

I do not think it advisable to do anything
to the sod now but suggest that you
direct us to repair it in the fall.

Very Respectfully

J.W. Lovering Supt.

Par. 4 l. 2 -- I haven't seen this abbreviation used before -- "ei" (unless I'm reading it wrong). To mean "approximately" or "about"?
