Hanson Bigelow Esq

Dear Sir

Your favor of yesterday
enclosing my letter of
3^d^ inst to Mr. Snow Is received.

I have been to the lot this morning and find
no evidence of there ever having been the grave marks
there, the want of which occasioned the complaint

In the case where grave borders are now there, the
base stone of the headstones was cut to receive the ends, but
the base at the grave that has no borders, appears never
to have been so cut. Upon inquiry I find that none
of the employees here, most likely to know, recollect
any border at all at that grave. I am therefore
constrained to believe that the lady had supposed
a border where in fact none was ever placed; which
might readily happen from a slip of memory

Very Respectfully
