Mason W. Tappan Esq

Dear Sir

Your note of
5th inst was received in due
course of mail and was crowded
out by other matter until this date.
I should have been glad to have
answered it immediately but must
plead extenuating circumstances as
the reason. Our foremand reports
upon examination that the stone
appears to be in good order and well set.
I mail a copy to Bradford
this being sent to Concord

Very Respectfully

Rev. Dr. Adams

Dear Sir

Your note of
Nov [19?] is received.

As the Corporation does not furnish
any headstones or work of this kind
I have handed your letter to the
nearest stoneworker and have requested
him to answer it

This I trust will prove satisfactory

Very Respectfully
J.W. Lovering Supt
