Dear Sir
Your note of
yesterday rec'd. I will begin the
work as early next spring as possible
of course I intended to do all
the filling with loam.
You say nothing in your note
about the curbing. Have you
made any arrangement about
it yourself, or am I to do the
best I can for you
Yrs very truly

Dear Madam
Your favor of
about Oct 27 was sent me by the
Treasr in due course of mail.
The "white rose bush" was planted
in the spring but spite our best
care, it did not survive the
summer. We will replace it
in the spring of 1878 without any
additional charge
Very Respectfully
J.W. Lovering Supt
