To the Memory of her Sister in law
Baroness Louise Hompesch Aug 1801

Formed to attract the Crowd, to charm the wise,
Low in the dust behold Louisa lies.
Youth, beauty, science, wit bestow'd in vain,
All insufficient happiness to gain.

Oh then great teacher Death! thus taught by thee,
How vain the wishes of Mortality,
The impassive lesson Memory indears,
And deep Reflection terminates in tears.-

A Mothers wish, on seeing her Son led by his
Father

Oh! such be thy support my Boy,
Through childhoods vernal day,
And mayst thou long that aid enjoy,
Thy manhoods dearest stay.
