Soft as Eolian notes that fall
Most melting by, most musical
Her gentle accents came.
They told of pure affections charm,
The Worlds cold dreary Veins to warm,
And Friendships sacred claim.

Entranced I snatch'd the humble Reed,
And strains of Gratitude succeed,
Such as the Most inspired.
And this they row, firm and sincere,
Thy [?] to feel, thy Grip to share
And guard the Prize acquired.-

For thee again this heart shall glow,
With all that Friendship can bestow,
Glad opening to the Ray,
