Which can banish all Care, ev'ry Sorrow disarm
Give pleasure to pain to anxiety ease.

Which friendly to fancy with her joins to raise
A Scene of Enchantment our Dwelling around,
And a beauteous, a smiling Perspective displays,
Where peace and contentment forever are found.

Which can brighten of Fortune the favoring smile,
Or soothe stern Misfortunes severest decree,
Can occupy Leisure, or Labor beguile,
Bind Sentiments self, yet make theory free.

Clifton May 1802

Joy lovely stranger art there found?
Oh bid the festive strain resound.
Muse! touch with trembling hand the Lyre,
Sing as Rapture shall inspire.
