THE CHRISTIAN UNION

The Christian Union was organized as
a Board of the University of Chicago by
action of the Trustees, April 30, 1901. As
reorganized in 1914 its purposes, constit-
uency and organization are as follows:

I. Purpose

1. To federate and give larger effi-
ciency to the officially recognized inter-
denominational or undenominational or-
ganizations ministering to the moral and
religious welfare of the University.

2. To determine the general policy of
moral and religious activities with the
University.

3. To assist in financing its constituent
co-operating organizations and such other
moral and religious activities as may ap-
pear to the Board needed and practicable.

4. To suggest to the President, Univer-
sity preachers and have general over-
sight of the administration of the preach-|
ing services in the University.

5. To co-operate in the work of the
University of Chicago Settlement.

6. To give official recognition to stu-
dent organizations for moral and religious
ends.

II. Membership

1 . Ex-officio

(a) The President of the Uni-
versity.
(b) The Recorder of the Uni-
versity.
(c) The Chaplain of the Uni-
versity.
(d) The Director of the Uni-
versity Choir.
(e) The Dean of Women.
(f) The presidents or chairmen
of its co-operating or-
ganizations.
(g) The salaried secretaries of
such organizations.
(h) The Chairman of the Set-
tlement Board.
