A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the
City of Kingston was held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Carson, Clements, Drennan, Dunn, Eilbeck,
Gardiner, Gildersleeve, Harty, Driscoll,
Hobart, McIntyre, McKay, O'Brien, Redden,
Robinson, Shannon, Thompson, J. Wilson,
W. Wilson

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting

A Communication from A. P. Knight Esquire acting
Secretary Collegeate Institute was read submitting
Estimate required for the year amounting to $2,542.00
Referred to the Committee On Finance

A Communication from James Agnew Esquire City
Solicitor was read - Re Amendments to Assessment and
Municipal Acts-

A Communication of Samuel Self was read
applying for the office of Pound Bailiff. Referred to the
Committee on Streets &c

A Communication from W. Morrison was read
Re Chemical Engine - Referred to the Committe on Fire,
Water and Gas

A Communiction from Mr Henry Bubrown was
read asking the City Hall at a nominal charge for a
Troupe of Jubilee Singers - Referred to the Committee on
City Property

Petitions from O. Gravelle and Z. Guy were
submitted - in reference to Taxes - and referred to the
Court of Revision

Ald. Clements brought up the petition of Henry
Brown and D. Corrigan asking for a five years
lease of the premises now occupied by them in City
Buildings - Referred to the Committee on City Property

A Petition from the Montreal Transportation
Company was read - Re occupation of Certain streets

On motion of Ald. Gildersleeve seconded by Ald. Hobart
Ordered, That the Servants of the Corporation
of the City of Kingston be instructed not to interfere
with the Montreal Transportation Company in the use
of the portion of the street mentioned in their Communication
North of the Telegraph Poles and that the Company give
a Bond to the Corporation indemnifying it against
damage resulting from such use Yeas 19 Nays 1

On motion of Ald. Eilbeck seconded by Ald. W. Wilson
Ordered, That this Council whilst recognizing
the right of the Streets Committee to order the obstructions
in our streets to be removed and believing they were acting
in
