The original motion being put was [underline]carried[/underline]
Ald. Harty gives notice of the first reading of a By Law
for changing the law granting $3500 for an extension of Louise
street School and allow the same to be used in the building of the
new Central school and to provide a further additional sum
of $4000 to secure the Completion and equipment of the new
Central school
Ald. McIntyre moves seconded by Ald. J. Wilson
That the Council go into Committee of the whole on
the second reading of the By Law to extend the present limits of
the City of Kingston and to amend section 622 of "The Consolidated
By Laws of the City of Kingston"
In amendment
Ald. Gardiner moves seconded by Ald. W. Wilson
That the Consideration of Ald. McIntyre's By Law be
deferred until the Committee to whom it has been referred can
report upon the same at the next meeting of the Council - which
being put was [underline/]lost[/underline] and the original motion was [underline]carried[/underline] yeas 9 nays 7.
The Council went into Committee of the whole on the By Law

The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second reading
of the By Law clause by clause - The Report was received
The 30th Rule was suspended and the By Law was read
a third time and passed
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. J. Wilson
Ordered, That the Portrait of Ex Mayor Smythe
be presented at the next meeting of the Council
On motion of Ald. Carson seconded by Ald. Robinson
Ordered, That the City Engineer be instructed
to report at the next meeting of the Council as to the cost of
straightening Durham street.
On motion the Council adjourned
