analytical and applied Chemistry, Engineering and generally on
the applications of science to the mechanic, arts, agriculture, navigation
and other industries of the people

II. That this Council appoint His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen McIntyre and Gildersleeve a deputation to wait upon
the Government to press the above on its immediate consideration

III. That this Council, being convinced that a school of practical
Science would be of incalculable value in stimulating all the
industries of Eastern Ontario, and more particularly of value
to the intelligent young men of this section of the Province,
respectfully invites the adjacent Municipalities and County Councils
to unite with it in such ways as may seem best to them respectively
in pressing the matter on the Government which being put was
[underline]carried[/underline]

A Circular from James T. Bell Esquire, County Clerk of
the County of Hastings was read - Re Lunatics Confined in
Gaols - Referred to the Finance Committee

A Communication from William S. Gordon City Commissioner
was read relative to the removal of snow

On motion of Ald. Thompson seconded by Ald. Robinson

Ordered, That the City Commissioners do have the snow
and ice removed from the side walks opposite the property of non
residents when necesary at the expense of the owners and to charge
such expense as a special assessment against the respective
properties as provided in section 610 of The Consolidated By Laws
of the City of Kingston

A Communication from Francis Somerville
was read asking renumeration for injuries inflicted
on his Wife owing to alleged defective walk - Referred
to the Committee on Streets

Communications Kingston and Pembrock R.R.
Co. and James Morse respecting Taxes were read and the latter
referred to the Court of revision and the former
to the Finance Committee.

Ald. Redden brought up the petition of William
Follest - Re Sweeping Chimneys. - no action taken

Ald. J. Wilson brought up the petition of
Joshua Spooner for Salvation Army asking for a refund
of the Rent of The Ontario Hall

On motion of Ald. J. Wilson seconded by Ald. Redden

Ordered, That the petition of the Salvation
Army be and is hereby referred to the Finance Committee
with power to act

Ald. Clements from the Committee on Finance and
accounts brought up a Report (Number 439, Book E.)
which was read and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 440, Book E.)
which was read and adopted
