A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Drennan, Downing, Gildersleeve, Harty , Hiscock
Hobart, Muckleston, McGuire, McIntyre, Phelan
Redden, Rees, C. Robinson, W. Robinson, Shannon
Smith, Thompson, Wilmot, Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting
A Communication from Lt Col Macpherson was read
stating his regiment will visit Kingston to Celebrate the Queens
Birth day
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Hobart
Ordered, That the subject of Lt Col. Macpherson's Communication
be referred to the Committee compised of the Mayor Ald. Gldersleeve
Harty, Drennan, Smith, McGuire, & Muckleston and moved to
report at the next meeting of the Council in conjunction with the
Celebration of her Majesty's Jubilee
A Communication from Lt. Col. Villiers was read asking the
Council if they are again willing to Contribute towards the expenses
same as last two years
On motion of Ald. Gildersleeve seconded by Ald. Smith
Ordered, That the Finance Committee be requested to
provide grant for the holding of the Volunteer Camp this year
on the same conditions and for same amount as granted for the
past two years
A Communication from S. S. Phippen Secretary Board of
School Trustees - Re action as to distribution of the sum of $3,500
granted to build an addition to Louise School
A Communication from W.L. Gordon Secretary L. B. H.
was read enclosing resolutions in reference to deposit of
Rubbish - Referred to the Committee on Streets
Petitions respecting Taxes were submitted and referred
to the Court of Revision
Ald. Hiscock brought up the petition of William Robinson
asking to rent a piece of ground on King street fronting Pavilion
referred to the Committee on City Property.
Ald. Smith brought up the petition of Sophia Carson
asking for a grant of money for the keeping of an infant.
Referred to Committee on Finance and accounts
Ald. Shannon brought up the petition of Thomas Mills
and others praying for a drain on Gordon street between
Union and Henchman street - Referred to the Committee on
Streets
Ald. Hiscock brought up the petition of Robert Carson
and six others Rate payers Victoria Ward asking for a fire alarm
box near the corner of Gordon and Union streets
