read asking that the Company may be heard relative to the
taxation of the Gas Works. Referred to the Finance Committee

to the Court of Revision
Ald. Thompson brought up sundry petitions respecting
Street Watering in the City
Ald. Smith brought up the petition of William J. Jones
asking permission to erect a veneered shed on his premises
Princess street - Referred to the Committee on Fire Water and Gas
Ald. C. Robinson brought up the petition of John Waddell
asking the Council to remit frontage on houses in consideration of the
distance he has to Construct drain - Referred to the Committee on
Streets
Ald. Smith brought up the petition of Holder Brothers asking
they may be granted a Billiard Table License for the remaining
portion of the year
On motion of Ald. Smith seconded by Ald. Muckleston
Ordered, That the petition of Holder Brothers be referred
to the License Committee with power to act
Ald. McIntyre brought up the petition of the Council
of the Board of Trade asking the Council to take early action
as will assist in bringing about the building of the now
proposed extension of the N. T. & Q R.R. from Yarker
to Kingston
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Thompson
Ordered, That His Worship the Mayor, Aldn
Harty, Muckleston, Shannon, Smith and the mover
and seconder be a Committee to Consider the subject of the
petition of the Board of Trade and to interview the
Directors of the N. T. and Q. Ry and report to this Council
A Communication from the Right Reverend
James Vincent Cleary Bishop of Kingston was read
granting the Catholic division of that burial ground to
the City Council for its Conversion into a Peoples Park
On motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Smith
Ordered, That the thanks of this Council be tendered
to His Lordship the Bishop of Kingston for his Communication
in regard to the Cemetery on Ordnance street intimating
His Lordships willingness to Convey the same to this Council
for the uses therein mentioned
The Report of the Auditors for the year 1886 was
read and referred to the Finance Committee
