Accounts brought up the Report (Number 483 483-1/2 Book F)
which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Select Committee on Water
Works brought up a Report (Number 484 Book F)
which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire, Water
and Gas brought up a Report (Number 485 Book F)
which was read and adopted.

Alderman Gildersleeve moves seconded by Alderman Rees
that George McCullough be appointed
Mechanical Engineer of the Fire Department.

In Admendent 1st
Alderman Shannon moves seconded by Alderman Hiscock
That George Hazlett be appointed Mechanical
Engineer or Caretaker of Engines of the Fire Department
of the City in the place of Richard Burke, resigned, and that
he be paid the sum of six hundred dollars per annum
as a stipend, with the use of the premises in the fire hall
used by his predecessor as a residence and with the privilege
of free light and fuel as heretofore.

In Amendment 2nd
Alderman Harty moves seconded by Alderman Drennan
That Daniel Reeeves be appointed Mechanical
Engineer of the Fire Department, which being put
was lost.

On motion of Alderman Gildersleeve seconded by Alderman Shannon
Resolved that this Council desires to express its
appreciation of the conduct of the Police Force in the apprehension
of the parties who recently set fire to the Salvation Army Barracks
and other places.

The Chairman from the Committee on City Property brought
up a Report (Number 486 Book F) which was read and adopted.
