which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on City Property
brought up a Report [strikethrough] a [/strikethrough] Number 501 Book F) which was
read and adopted.

Ald. Hiscock submitted the Report of the City Engineer
Re Breakwater.

Ald. Hiscock moves seconded by Ald. Shannon

That the report of the City Engineer be received and
adopted and that the Finance Committee provide the sum of one
thousand dollars to be applied to repairing the King street Breakwater
where most urgently needed _ the work to be under the control of
the streets Committee and the City Engineer and that the work
be commenced at once.

In Amendments

Ald. McIntyre moves seconded by Ald. Harty

That the Report of the City Engineers be received and
referred to the Committee on Streets to report the ways and means
and the best possible mode of Constructing the Breakwater referred to

Ald. Hiscock with leave of Council withdrew his resolution

Ald. McIntyres resolution being then put was [underline] carried [/underline]

Ald. Muckleston introduced a By Law to amend section
80 of the "Consolidated By Laws of the City of Kingston" which was
read a first time.

On Motion of Ald. McIntyre seconded by Ald. Swift

Ordered, That the City Solicitor be requested to report to the
Council, if the Street Railway have paid taxes on their real and
personal property in accordance with their agreement with the City.

Ald. Gaskin moves seconded by Ald. Dunlop

That the Mayor instruct the Auditors to make out a
complete statement of expenditure for the different departments in
connection with the Corporation from the year 1880 to the year 1888 that
is for each year for City property, Fire, Water and Gas, the Market
Printing, Streets, Drains and shovelling snow and that said statement
be attached to the auditors report of receipts and expenditure [strikethrough] be attached [/strikethrough]
that will be submitted this year. _ withdrawn with leave of Council.

On Motion of Ald. Polson seconded by Ald. Adams

Ordered, That this be an instruction to the Committee
On Fire Water and Gas to take into consideration the location of a
Fire station in the upper part of the City and to report on same
as to site and probable cost of same.

On Motion the Council adjourned
