On motion of Ald. Wilson seconded by Ald. Hiscock

Ordered, That the communication of the Deputy Adjutant
General re Camp be referred to the Committee On Finance with power
to act sum granted not to exceed $300.

Ald. Miller here entered the Council chambers

From the Revd S.N. Jackson and Kenneth Ireland respecting taxes
referred to the Court of Revision

The Report of the City Auditors was read presenting statements
of Revenue and Expenditures to for 1887 Referred to the Committee
on Finance.

Ald. Hiscock brought up the petition of S.S. Phippen and 7 others
asking for the construction of a sewer in the centre of Stuart st
from the centre of Gordon street to the centre of Saint Lawrence
avenue according to regulations annexed - Referred to the Committee
on Streets.

Ald. Fenwick brought up the petition of Mrs. Betsy K. Phippen
asking for the removal of the stand pipe, corner of Johnson and
Bagot streets - Referred to the Committee On Fire, Water and Gas

Ald. Wilmot brought up the petition of R.W. Copeland and
8 others asking for the construction of a [strikethrough] store [/strikethrough] sewer in the centre of
Albert street from Brock to Johnson street to connect with main
sewers - Referred to the Committee On Streets.

Ald. Wilmot brought up the petition of J. Irwin and 4 others
asking to have Montreal street lying between Ordnance and John
street duly watered during the present season - Referred to the Committee
On Streets.

Ald. Shannon from the Committee On Finance and
Accounts brought up a Report (Number 519 Book F)
which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee On Streets &
Improvements brought up a Report (Number 520 Book F)
which was read and adopted.

On motion of Ald. Wilmot seconded by Ald. Gaskin

Ordered, That a public street forty feet wide continuing
Markland street from Ordnance plot to Montreal
street according to the plan prepared in that behalf by the
City Engineer and on file in his office be established opened
made, graded [?] and sidewalked on both sides
with walks not more than four feet wide and that a notice
of the intention of this Council to pass a By Law for the
purpose be given by the City clerk and that the site of said
street be obtained by arbitration or as otherwise provided
by law and paid for out of the general funds of this Corporation
subject forever to the adoption by the Council [strikethrough] subject
however [/strikethrough] of the award to be made or the acceptance by it
of the prices the owners may agree to take for said site and
that

Ordered that the 39th Rule be suspended as relates to
expenditure recommended in opening up certain streets
