The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second reading
of the By Law clause by clause _ the Report was received

Yeas Aldn Drennan, Fenwick, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Harty, McIntyre
McLeod, Polson, Rees, C.Robinson, Shannon 11

Nays the Mayor, Aldn Carson, Cruggan, Minnes, McCammon
W. Robinson, Swift, Wilson 8.

The By Law was read a third time and passed and was
signed and sealed

On Motion of Ald: Shannon seconded by Ald: Minnes
Ordered, that this Council desires to express its sympathy
with the family of the late John Carruthers in the bereavement
they have recently suffered in the death of their respected father;
and to make known its sense of the loss the City has sustained in
him of an interprising and succesful Merchant, a prominent public
man and active philanthropist and an honoured Citizen

On Motion the Council adjourned

The Mayor stated the Meeting was called to take up
general business
Communications were read as follows: _

From R.T. Dobbs Esquire Assistant Compiler Kingston
Directory _ Re getting up a City Directory for Kingston
Referred to the Committee on Streets

From RT Dobbs Esquire relative to the numbering of
the houses of the City. Referred to the Committee on
Streets

From Fife Fowler Esquire MD. President Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons asking for the use of the City Hall
for the Medical Council of Ontario in which to conduct their medical
examinations _ Referred to the Committee on City Property.

From Messrs Charlton, Lawerence & Co. re numbering the houses
of
