From Mrs Marticia Williams Re Taxes, Referred to the Court
of Revision-
From Wm. S. Gordon offering Mr John McKay as his surety
to the Corporation - Referred to the Committee on Finance.
Ald. Drennan brought up the petition of Frederick Atwood
asking for a refund of the rent of the City Hall - Referred to the
Committee on City Property.
On motion of Ald. Gaskin seconded by Ald. [insert] W. [/insert] Robinson
Ordered that owing to no Finance Committee Report
being submitted to-night there being no quorum of the Committee
The Mayor be authorised to pay for labor on pay Roll and
for any contract work
Ald. Gaskin from the Committee on Streets and
Improvements and chairman thereof brought up a (Report
Number 656 Book F) which was read and adopted
On Motion of Ald. Robinson seconded by Ald. Cruggan
Ordered, That the Committee on Fire, Water and Gas be
requested to report at the next [insert] regular [/insert] meeting of the Council on the lighting of the City.
The Chairman from the Committee on Water Works
brought up a Report (Number 657 Book F) which was read
on the 4th November ultimo -
On motion of Ald. Robinson Seconded by Ald. Cruggan
Ordered That the report of the Water Works Committee be
left over for decision until a special to be held next Thursday
evening.
The Council went into Committee of the Whole on
the second reading of the By Law respecting and to impose
a percentage on taxes and local improvement assessments
in default of payment

The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law clause by clause - The Report was
received.
The 30th Rule was suspended and the By Law was
read a third time and passed
On motion of Ald. Harty seconded by Ald. Muckleston
Ordered, That the Treasurer report at the next meeting
of Council whether or not the Rolls for 1888 have been
finally returned
On motion the Council adjourned
