A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Adams, Carson, Cruggan, Fenwick, Gaskin,
Harty, Hiscock, Minnes, Muckleston, McCammon
McIntyre, McLeod, Polson, Rees, W. Robinson
Shannon
The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings
A Communication from The Revd A.L. Macfadyen[McPhayden]
was read asking for remission of rent of City Hall
On motion of Ald. Polson seconded by Ald. Carson
Ordered That the communications of Messrs Cunningham
and Macfadyen [McPhayden] be granted on the usual conditions
Sunday Communications Re taxes were submitted
and referred to the Court of Revision
Petitions were presented as follows:-
From E.C. Hill [insert] et al [/insert] by Ald. Gaskin asking for a sewer
on St Catharine street from the Northern end of said
street to Pine street - Referred to the Committee on Streets
From Robert OConnor by Ald. W. Robinson re
reduction of Water Tax.- Referred to the Committee on
Streets.
From E.C. Hill et al.. Re Water Works. Referred
to the Committee on Water Works
The 31st Rule of Council as to the order of business
was suspended
The Council went into Committee of the whole
on second reading of the By Law to partially exempt
Joseph Carringtons Tannery from the payment of Municipal
taxes for a period of five years from the first day of January
1889
Ald. Polson in the chair
The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the chairman reported the
second reading of the By Law clause by clause - The Report
was received - Yeas Aldn Cruggan, Gaskin, Gildersleeve, Harty
Hiscock, Minnes, Muckleston, McCammon, McIntyre, McLeod, Rees, W. Robinson
Shannon, Swift, Wilson 15. Nays The Mayor, Ald. Adams, Carson
Fenwick, Polson & Robinson 6.
