A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Kingston was held this day. Present

His Worship The Mayor
Aldermen

Anglin, Creeggan, Fenwick, Gaskin, Machar
Minnes, Muckleston, McCammon, McIntyre
Osborne, Redden, Rees, Robinson, Shannon
Steacy Jos. F Swift, Thompson, Webster

The Clerk read the minutes of the three last meetings

Communications were read as follows:

From the Anti Poverty Society Toronto - Re Assessments.

From the Municipal Convention. Re Municipal Act.

From the Provincial Secretarys office Toronto Re Assessments
which were submitted to the Council at its meeting on the
15th instant.

The Mayor referred them to the municipal law and
law reform Select Committee.

On motion of Ald. Shannon seconded by Ald. Thompson

Ordered, That Aldermann Muckleston, McIntyre
Machar and the mover and seconder be a committee for
the current year upon municipal law and law reform

From H.B. La Rue Esquire New York asking for
copies of our By Laws Re Market. Referred to the
Mayor and the City Solicitor

From George Thompson Collector of Taxes, stating
amount of Taxes collected to date, amount remitted and
the amount still uncollected - Referred to the Finance
Committee.

From Alfred Pearson Esq. Mayor of Winnipeg asking
the amount given in Charity in the City and for a copy of the
By Laws under which this portion of the City business is conducted
Referred to the Mayor

From M.W. Sine offering to perform the duties of
Veterinary Inspector in connection with the recently passed
Milk By Law for one year for $25.00 - Referred to the
Committee On Finance.

From John D. Rinald, Brussels Ont. - Re repairs to
the Chateau Fire Engine - There was no action taken thereon

Petitions were presented as follows:-
From A. Belanger by Ald. Thompson - Re Taxes- Referred to the Court
of Revision
From John Williams and John Skinner asking for a remission of
a portion of the rent of the City Hall on the night of the 21st, instant
Referred to the Committee On City Property.

Ald. Gaskin from the Committee On Finance and
accounts brought up two reports (Numbers 670 & 671 Book F)
which were read and adopted

The Chairman from the Committee On Streets & Improvements

brought
