Whereas the Municipal Councils of the Counties of
Prince Edward, Hastings, Lennox, Addington, Frontenac, Leeds
Grenville, Dundas, Stormont, Glengarry, Carleton and Renfrew,
and of the cities and Towns of Kingston, Belleville, Brockville
Picton and Deseronto memorialized the government three years
ago requesting that the legislature should establish the school
as mentioned at Kingston and the government promised to
consider the matter of their petition:-

Be it therefore resolved:-

That this Council respectfully memorializes the
government of the Province of Ontario to take steps to
establish at Kingston, in connection with and as part of its
educational policy, an institution in which instruction
shall be given in mining and metallurgy analytical
and applied chemistry, engineering, civil and mechanical,
and generally in the applications of science to the mechanic
arts agriculture, navigation and other industries of the
people

That this Council appoint a deputation to wait at
once upon the government and legislature to press the above
upon their immediate consideration

On motion of Ald. Shannon seconded by Ald. McIntyre

Ordered, That the Mayor, Aldn Robinson, Thompson
Mr William Harty Mr E.J.B. Pense, [insert] & [/insert] Mr C.F. Gildersleeve be
a deputation to proceed to Toronto to press upon the
government the claims of eastern Ontario to a school
of science

position of Assistant Chief Engineer of the Fire
Department-Referred to the Committee On Fire, Water and
Light.

From George Thompson Collector of Taxes giving
amount of Taxes collected to date

From Edward H. Smythe Chairman Kingston
Collegiate Institute asking that $600.00 be placed to
credit-Referred to the Finance Committee.

From Mrs P. Devlin acknowleding resolutions
of condolence passed by council and forwarded to her

A Writ Johnson vs Kingston-damages $5000 was
submitted and Referred to the City Solicitor.
