Muckleston, McCammon, McIntyre, Osborne,
Redden, Rees, W. Robinson, Shannon, Steacy
Swift James, Swift Jos F. Thompson, Wilson
The Clerk read the three last meetings
Communications were read and referred as follows: _
From City Clerk certifying as to vote on By Law, Loan
of $11.500 for Fire purposes
From James Agnew Esquire, City Solicitor _ Re Suit
Canada Life.
Ald: Rees moves seconded by Ald: C. Robinson
That the Suit against the Canada Life Assurance
Company be abandoned and that the appeal bond be withdrawn
by telegraph
In amendment
Ald: Shannon moves seconded by Ald: McIntyre
That the City Solicitor be instructed to have the
appeal Bond in the Case of the City of Kingston vs The Canada
Life Assurance Company fyled in Toronto, and that the matters
be referred to the Finance Committee to decide whether the appeal
shall be proceeded with further, it being understood that the
committee will be guided in their action by the conduct of other
Municipalities _ which being put was [underline] lost [/underline] and the orginal
motion was [underline] carried [/underline]
