Ald. Minnes from the Committee On Finance & Accounts
brought up four Reports (Numbers 788. 789. 790 and 791 [insert] Book F [/insert] ) which
were read and adopted as amended by adding $38.00 to the
account of Messrs Cicolari and Daly's Printing account.
On motion of Ald. Thompson seconded by Ald. Gaskin
Ordered, That the City Treasurer be instructed to pay to the
Reporters of the Daily News and British Whig the sum of Twenty
five dollars each for reporting the proceedings of this Council during
the year 1890 as provided for in the Budget under date of June
20. 1890.
The Chairman from the Committee on Water Works brought
up a Report (Number 792 Book F) which was read and adopted
The Chairman from the Committee On Fire, Water and Light
brought up a Report (Number 793 Book F) which was read and
adopted
The Chairman from the Committee On Wharves and
Harbors brought up a Report (Number 794 Book F) which was
read and adopted as amended by the following resolution
On motion of Ald. Fenwick seconded by Ald. [insert] Jos. [/insert] Swift
Ordered, That the report of the Committee on Wharves and
Harbors be received and adopted and that the Mayor be requested
to place himself in communication with the Honorable The Minister
of Marine and Fisheries and The Right Honorable Sir John A
Macdonald urging upon him the necessity of the proposed improvements
Ald. Osborne moves seconded by Ald. Machar
That the people at the ensuing Municipal Election be asked
to vote on this question whether it is desirable to do away with the
Ward system and elect Aldermen by the vote of the whole electorate
which being put was [underline] lost [/underline]
