Monday Eleven o'Clock A.M.
Kingston January 16th 1893

The first Meeting of the Council elect of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston for the Year 1893 was held this day. Present:

Neil C Polson, Mayor elect

Aldermen

Cataraqui Ward
William Robinson, Edward Ryan

Frontenac Ward
David E Mundell, Clark W Wright, William C Carson,

Ontario Ward
John J Behan, William Wilson, Chester L Curtis

Rideau Ward
Donald M McIntyre, Christopher Robinson, Robert Elliott

Saint Lawrence Ward
John L Skinner, John C Hardy, William J. Arniel

Sydenham Ward
John Herald, Robert Meek, R.J. Bowes

Victoria Ward
John McKelvey, A Horn, John McLeod

John Gaskin elected Alderman for Cataraqui
Ward being absent.

Cornelius V Price Esquire, Judge of the County
Court of the County of Frontenac administered the
declarations of qualifications and of office to the Mayor
elect and subscribed to the certificate of declarations.

Whereupon the Mayor took the Chair and
administered the declarations of qualifications and
of office to the Aldermen present and subscribed to
Certificate of Declarations.

The Mayor addressed the Council

On motion of Ald Meek seconded by Ald Hardy
Ordered, That the Mayor's address just read
be referred to the appropriate Committee .

A Communication from Adam McArthurs was
read offering himself a candidate for City Auditor.

The Mayor recommended William A Dick as Auditor.

Ald Elliott moves seconded by Ald Robinson
That Adam McArthur be appointed Auditor
for the year 1893.
In amendment
Ald Hardy moves seconded by Ald McIntyre
That Mr J.P. Oram be the Council's Auditor
for the current year - which being put was lost and the
original motion being put was carried.

A Communication from J.L.A. McCann , Secretary
Kingston Collegiate Institute was read reminding the Council
of the necessity of electing two Trustees of the Board of Kingston
Collegiate Institute. The Retiring Trustees, Hon. M Sullivan, VV Dr EH Smythe,
