On motion of Ald McKelvey seconded by Ald Gaskin
Whereas the said Bill entitled "An Act to incorporate
the Kingston Street Railway Company" purports to confer powers
upon the said street Railway Company which it is not in the
interests of this Corporation that said Company should possess, and
by their original Act of Incorporation.

Resolved, That this Council do adopt the petition to
the Legislative Assembly and do instruct His Worship the
Mayor to sign and seal the same to the member for Kingston
for presentation to the Legislature.

Resolved further, that His Worship the Mayor,
Aldermen McIntyre, Gaskin, McKelvey, W Robinson and Ryan,
City Solicitor Agnew and City Engineering be a Committee to
proceed to Toronto to press the prayers of said petition upon the
Legislature.

In amendment
Ald Elliott seconded by Ald Carson
That His Worship the Mayor, Aldermen McKelvey
and McIntyre and the City Solicitor be a deputation to wait upon
the Government Re: the Street Railway Bill now before the House
which being put was lost.

The original motion being put was carried.

From James Agnew City Solicitor stating the case
Shaw vs Snodden et al came on for trial at the Assizes
yesterday and that is was dismissed as to the City - fyled.

From David Trotter Esquire, President of the
Frontenac Cheese Board requesting the liberty of holding
their weekly meetings in the Council Chambers.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald Horn
Ordered, That the request of the Frontenac Cheese Board be granted.

From George Thompson Collector of Taxes giving
statement of Taxes received to date. Referred to the Finance
Committee.

From Charles D Reese Re: Dog License checks -
fyled.

From Mr M Drennan on behalf of Odd Fellows
asking for the use of Ontario Hall for fancy drill movements.
Referred to the Committee on City Property.

From John Duff Esquire, Secretary to House of Industry
Re: the necessity of procuring an outlet for the drain of the House
of Industry. Referred to the Committee on Streets &c
