Mr George M Macdonnell addressed the Council on the
subject.

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered, That Bill No 54 and Bill No 66 relative to the
Kingston, Smith Falls and Ottawa Railway be referred to the Railway
Committee of this Council with power to take such action as they shall
deem necessary to protect the interests of the City.

Communications were read and referred as follows:

From the Donnelly Salvage and and Wrecking Co Ltd offering
to lease the Water Works Dock with the privilege of buildilng a
small shed or Warehouse thereon and proposing to pay $125.00
per annum for five years lease or longer. Deferred for the present.

From Mr R.C. Percival & Son, Merrickville Re:
encouragement of Industries by locating in the City.
Referred to teh Committee on Finance &c

From A.F. McIntyre Esquire QC Advocate &c
Montreal stating Rousseau will accept $8,300 for the
pipe as it lies. Referred to the Water Works Committee.

From John McIntyre Esquire Barrister in behalf
of D Couper enclosing account for repairs to waggon owing
to damages to waggon. Referred to the Committee on Streets.

From Messrs Walkem and Walkem asking for payment
of costs Re: Rousseau case. Referred to teh Committee on
Water Works.

From A Beaupre asking permission to build a
Blacksmiths forge in a building on Princess Street between
Ontario and King Street. Referred to the City Commissioner
to report.

From Thomas Mills Esquire, Secretary and
Treasurer Cataraqui Bridge Company asking for the
sanction of the accompanying bill for submission to
the Provincial Legislature.

The Bill Re: application of fines was here
read

Ald McIntyre moves seconded by Ald Herald
That this Council having heard read the
communication of the Cataraqui Bridge Company and
the draft of the bill proposed to be passed amending section
14 of the Act regulating travelling on highways and
Bridges R.L.Q Chapter 195 so that the fines collected
on convictions for fast driving on bridges owned by
a company, firm or person be paid over to such company
firm or person to assist in detecting and prosecuting
offenders against the said Act in this respect and the said
Cataraqui Bridge being wholly within the Municipality
this Council are willing to forego the said fines in favor of the
said company when it prosecutes and that the said
amendment should be made to the said Act.
