statement of taxes collected to date. Referred to the
Committee on Finance &c

The Mayor submitted a printed volume of the
Reports of the City of Newark. Fyled.

Ald McIntyre from the Committee on Finance
and Accounts brought up two Reports (Numbers 1154 & 1155
Book G) which were read and adopted.

On motion of Ald McIntyre seconded by Ald McKelvey
Ordered, That His Worship the Mayor on behalf of this
Corporation sign and seal the petition to be prepared and
forwarded to the Legislature praying for an act to legalize,
confirm and declare valid the Montreal Transportation Company
exemption By Laws.

The Chairman from the Board of Works Committee brought
up a Report (Numbers 1156 Book G) which was read.

Notice was here read from John Herald, Mayor and
T.O. Bolger City Engineer to the Kingston, Portsmouth and
Cataraqui Street Railway to keep all snow and ice on certain
streets level &c

Also the reply of the Kingston Portsmouth & Cataraqui
Railway Company from the B.W. Folger Manager.

On motion of Ald Carson seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, That the Report of the Committee on Board of
Works be received and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on City Property
brought up a Report (Numbers 1157 Book G) which was read
and adopted.

On motion of Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, That Rule 27 be suspended as to the appointment
of Select Committee to act in conjunction with a Committee of the
Board of Trade to induce manufacturers to locate in Kingston.

On motion of Ald Gaskin seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, That the following be a Committee to
co-operate with a Committee of the Board of Trade for the
purpose of corresponding with and inducing Manufacturing
and other industries employing labor largely to locate in
Kingston, Mayor Herald, Aldermen Gaskin, McKelvey,
McIntyre, Meek, Ryan and Hardy. The Mayor to be
Chairman.

Ald McKelvey introduced "A By Law to exempt
the real and personal property of the Montreal Transportation
Company from the payment of Municipal taxes except local
improvement rates and to fix the amount of School Taxes
to be paid by the said Company on said property at the sum
of $217.86 per annum and to exempt said property from the
sum of $217.86 per annum for a period of ten years from
the 1st day of July 1893 upon certain conditions" which
