adhere to their former decision in regard to his
essay; that they have nothing to do with any
private arrangement between Dr Thorburn and
him; that all University prizes must be
competed for in accordance with the prescribed
conditions; and that the conditions of competition
prescribed for all Prize essays, as well as the
special conditions that may be attached to some
of them, might and ought to be known to
all competitors, having been published in
the three last annual calendars.

[margin]committee on new calendar[/margin]

The Principal and Professor Dupuis
and Watson were appointed a Committee to
attend to the printing of the new Calendar.

The Senate revised a part of the Calendar
for next session.

[margin]French or German at matric. exam.[/margin]

It was agreed that hereafter French
and German be optional subjects at the matriculation
exaination except in the case of
students who purpose attending the Hebrew class

Closed with benediction.

The Senate met and was constittued at
eleven o'clock A.M.

Sederunt Dr Williamson, Vice-Principal,
Professors Mowat, Mackerras, Dupuis,
Ferguson and Watson.

The minutes of teh last meeting held
on the 25th inst. were read and approved.

On a review of the written examinations
in Arts the Senate sustained the University examination of the following undergraduates
named in teh order of merit:
