Banana Butterscotch Custard

1/2 c. br. sugar
3 T. cornstarch or 5 T. flour
1/2 t. salt
2 c. milk
2. sl beaten egg yolks
2 T. butter
1/2 t. vanilla
1/4 c. br. sugar
2 egg whites

Combine sug, cornstarch and salt. Add milk slowly, Cook over low heat until thick stirring const. Add egg yolks. Mix well. Return to heat. Cook 1 min. Add butter and vanilla. Grad add sug to egg whites, beat stiff - fold into custard. Slice bananas in dish, top with custard and sliced bananas.
