24: Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st Ass't working in the garden and fishing. Keeper returned to Station at 4. P.M. 2nd Ass't went over to Newport. The Sealing Schooner Oscar & Hattie sailed at 7.P.M. without the boat.

25: Light variable winds and calm these 24 hours, first part of 24 hours cloudy but dry. Last part of 24 hours clear fine wether. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st and 2nd Ass't working in garden. 1st Ass't also went to Newport. Steamer Willamett arrived today from San Francisco.

26: Calm & light S.E. to moderate breeze South these 24 hours with frequent fog showers. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper and 1st Ass't went fishing. 1st Ass't also working in the garden.

27: Light wind to moderate and fresh breeze S. East to South these 24 hours with frequent rain showers. Sea moderately smooth. General duties for the day.

28: Moderate breeze to light South wind these 24 hours with frequent rain showers first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours cloudy but dry. Sea very rough. General duties for the day.

29: Light S. E. to S. wind these 24 hours with frequent rain showers during 24 hours. Sea moderately smooth.

March

1: Light variable & East wind with light rain showers first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light N.W. wind, fair weather. Sea smooth. General duties for day. Keeper & 2nd Ass't went to Newport today.

2: Light North wind and calm first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light to moderate breeze N.W. clear, fine and cool weather. Sea smooth. 1st Ass't went fishing and to Newport. Keeper and 2nd Ass't planting garden today. Also Keepers putting 200 gall of Oil in Oil house.

3: Light N.W. wind, clear, find and cool during first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light variable winds and calm, fair and warm. Sea smooth. Keeper and 2nd Ass't planting garden. 1st Ass't went fishing.

4: Light S. to West and N.W. wind with rain showers during first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate and fresh breeze N.W. little damp. Sea smooth. 1st Ass't went fishing and cleaning house. Keeper and 2nd Ass't planting garden.

5: Light N.W. to East and S.E. wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light variable winds and calm, cloudy but dry weather during 24 hours. Keepers planting garden & went fishing. Had one visitor. 1st Ass't also went to Newport.

6: Light S.East wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light N.W. wind fair weather during the 24 hours. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. Keeper went to Newport on important business.

7: Light N.W. to variable winds with fog showers during first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light N.W. wind, fair weather. Sea little rough. General duties for day. 1st Ass't planting garden. Keeper & 2nd Ass't went to school meeting. 2nd Ass't also went to Newport.

8: Light N.W. to S. East and South wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light N.West wind with thick damp fog most of 24 hours. Sea quite smooth. 1st Ass't working in garden, fishing, and to Newport. Steamer Willamett Valley arrived from San Francisco, crossed bar. Keeper and 2nd Ass't cleaning Keeper hack??? to paint and varnish it.

9: Light N.W. to East wind and calm first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light to moderate breeze East, clear, fine and warm. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st and 2nd Ass't went fishing. Keeper went to Newport today.

10: Strong to moderate breeze East with clear, fine dry fog. Sea very smooth. 1st Ass't went fishing and working in garden and cleaning out wood shed. Keeper & 2nd Ass't scraping rust off hack??? to paint it. Steamer Willamett sailed today for San Francisco.
