May 21: Keeper went to Newport to take Mr. Rice 1st Asst who is on his way to Portland to see a specialist about his eye as it is getting worse every day. Had two visitor today. Left the Station at 9:30 A.M.

22: Calm and light West wind with fair weather first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze South to N. West with rain showers. Sea smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper & 2nd asst went fishing.

23: Moderate to fresh breeze N. West these 24 hours first part of 24 hours rain showers - Last pat of 24 hours fair weather - Sea quite rough - Keeper and 2nd asst putting up stage and painting brackets black.

24: Moderate to fresh and strong breeze N. West these 24 hours with fair weather - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst finished painting the Brackets on tower - and whitewashed some fences today.

25: Fresh to moderate breeze N. West these 24 hours - first part of 24 hours fair weather - Last part of 24 hours some damp fog - Sea smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst whitewashing fences around the cape.

26: Calm & light N. West wind first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh and strong breeze N.W. with fair weather during 24 hours - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper went over to Newport to get some supplies and get the mail - U.S. Steamer Manzenita passed by this light at 2 P.M. going south stoped and placed the bouy off of Yaquina bar. Steamer Willamette Valley arrived off the bar at 4 P.M. and crossed in at 5:30 P.M. from San Francisco - Keeper and 2nd asst started to paint on the tower did paint a little but had to stop there being to much wind - Manzanita passed into Newport at 7 P.M.

27: Moderate to fresh breeze N. West these 24 hours first part of 24 hours little damp - last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper and 2nd asst working in the garden - The barometer stands 29.87. The U.S. Steamer Manzanita came out of Yaquina bay at 8:30 A.M. and steamed away south. Willamette Valley sailed for San Francisco at 7:30 P.M.

28: Light N. West wind with fog showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light West to N. West wind with fair weather - Sea very smooth - Keeper went to Newport after the mail - 2nd Asst working in garden.

29: Moderate breeze N. West with rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light N. West wind fair weather - Sea quite rough - Keeper & 2nd asst painting on tower & base & Oil House - Also cleaning & rakeing up the chicken yard.

30: Light wind to moderate breeze N. West these 24 hours with fair weather during 24 hours - Sea quite smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst. painting iron railings & parapet black - Also painted water tank & stepps outside of Keeper Dwelling. Also celler doors.

31: Light South wind with light rain first part of 24 hours - last part of 24 hours light variable winds to N.W. wind fair weather - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst working on the road & whitewashing on the garden fence.

June 1: Calm & light variable winds these 24 hours with fair and warm weather - Sea quite smooth - General duties for day - 2nd asst went to Newpot to take & get mail - U.S. Steamer Manzanita laying off of Yaquina bar at 4 A.M. she passed this light at 10 A. M. going North.

2: Fresh breeze N. West these 24 hours first part of 24 hours light rain showers - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper whitewashig garden fence also painting stepps around dwelling & mixing white paint to paint office & Oil-House.

3: Moderate to fresh & strong breeze N. West these 24 hours with fair weather during 24 hours - Sea a little rough - Keeper & 2nd asst painting office & Oil-House white - Also painted pump frame & Keeper back stepps of dwelling. A gentleman two ladies and two boys came at the dwelling at 12 noon to go up in the tower - Told them they could go up after dinner which would be in about an hour but they would not wait.

4: Light variable winds and calm first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours fresh breeze East clear fine and warm during 24 hours - Sea very smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper went fishing - Keeper & 2nd showing seventeen visitors in tower.
