Similarly, upon entering Mckay Chapel for the reception, I saw Mary Gates again, and still did not catch her eye although I walked right by a few times, so I didn't say hello. Why push awkward situation.

I had a scotch + soda, almost bought a T-shirt, and continued to talk with Don Clancy, Bob Raphael and Chris Wright. Also I saw Terry Smith (also well fed). Still hard to believe he's an accountant! Krom started to seem out of it in the sense that he seemed defensive + cautious. But Bob was very nice and said they'd try to squeeze me in at their table.

As we left, I saw Ken Van Dyke and we talked a bit. Mary didn't say hello as I walked out of Chapel, even though I'd been talking with Ken in front of her.

It was a little hard getting in for dinner which was held at the gym. But it didn't seem like a strange gym to be in, until I realize my previous experiences were 20 years ago almost. Especially going to the John in the boys locker room! Remembering Schmechel then.

They finally let me stay for dinner, after I had spent time speaking with Ken Van Dyke for awhile, hearing about his 3-week solo sailing in San Juans. He introduced me to the elder Skinners, Ned + Kayla (very short blond), donor of the Carollon the played the hour. Very "old Seattle".

Don Clancy came and we stand in line reminiscing and hearing about his practice and work in Guam, Palm Springs, why he left MBBJ, etc. Very interesting. I don't remember over connecting with him like that in Lakeside. He talked so much through dinner that he didn't even touch his food very much.

Then tere were the after dinner speeches, open mike. First their was great Chris Larson... I didn't realize he started year after I left. Told stories of Bill + Kent (then juniors) going to middle schoool to teach him + others. Architect gave a brief speech saying what a wondering cieling was hidden above. Dan C loved that!
