The SW consists of New Mex, Arizona, Utah + Colorado. Or rather Albuquerque, Phoenix, Salt Lake and Denver. There are no summer beaches anywhere. Denver is quite cold now. Arizona has backwards laws, Salt Lake may not be too bad + well ABQ is ABQ.

Then there's Hollywood + Santa Monica + LA, etc. I know several people in the LA area. I feel I fit in well there. If I for some reason lost my job I could get another. It is warm, there are beaches, there are beautiful /\ interesting people, there is understanding among straights. Salt Lake + Phoenix have no such image. They have little image. If I for some reason got laid off there, I'd have to move. There is not a wide opportunity in the SW cities. I'd lost all my friends. They do not offer the permanence of residence which I'm looking for.
