rain this evening. The men
plowed this morning.
Nellie comes to Gretna
& phoned for someone to
meet her it rained so
hard that Ben did not
go. I will be glad
when she comes. The
children is all complanning and cant
help me much and there is so
much to be done. I have bin neading
Brownies to(?)
tonight mrs Booke
lent it down here.

I believe that she was reading Brownies Triumph, at least there was a book of that title written around 1910. It appears to have been a children's story so she may have been reading to the sick children. There is a short Wiki piece on the author and Google books has some excerpts from magazine stories. NHW
