Your favor of the
14^th inst was received in due time.

Your opinion that the lot should have
been watered through the dry season
is perfectly correct. The Lot has
been watered three times per week
thoroughly in for an hour or hour and
a half each time during the drouth
and the Gardener reports it as looking
well. It takes but a few hours
for spider webs to be built; but I
think it is very seldom one can be seen
on the lot. I am sorry the appearance
of the lot was not satisfactory but
trust that it will be found in the
condition you desire hereafter
