Status: Needs Review

6) Special House Meeting (scheduled on Monday 25th July
1960, but was not called held due to insufficient number).

After the special meeting of Thurs. 21st July 1960, Messrs.
Thomas & Sathya challeneged the manager's interpreta-
tion of the constitution & house regulations, and declared
that the resolutions passed was were un-constitutional.
Mr. Sathya also felt that the constitution needed to ch
revision. At their request, a special meeting was called
on Monday -- the date was set after discussion with
Messrs. Sathya & Thomas. A notice was posted to this
effect, on Sat. 23rd July. However, Messrs. Thomas &
Sathya later felt that they needed more time to
consider the whole matter; house members other than
Messrs. Thomas & Sathya felt that this new meeting
was unncessesary, especially about Mr. Thomas's intention
of calling in the Dean of Men. The manager informed
all house members that the house would not officially
write the Dean, but if Mr. Thomas wanted to, he
could, as a member of the house, do so. But then,
it would be up to the Dean's office to inform the
house should the Dean consented to come. FInally
house members signed to say that the meeting was
unnecessary and at 7:30, only four showed up.

The manager thus declared that the meeting would
not be held & he would interpret this as a vote
of confidence in the manager. He also informed Messrs.
Thomas & Sathya that if they still felt that the
matter was not probably properly done, they could
arrange a petition to the manager, with at least
two thirds of the members' signitures, to ask for
another meeting, & or to request the Dean to intervene.
The manager would be pleased to comply with any
one decision of the about above.

[Members present at 7:30 pm were:
Chow, Ma, Sathya & Thomas]
