Then Harry goes from 11 till
½ past 1, & Mr. Crawford from
½ past 1 till ½ past 3
when we begin to pack, so as
to get water as soon as possible.
We are sleeping without the tent
tonight as it was late (8 o'clock) &
Harry has to watch, so we are
lying on our blankets with our
clothes on. Travelled about
28 miles today in very hot
sun.

Saturday 5th.

We (Harry & I) had very little
sleep last night. Neither of us
could sleep during Favenc's watch,
& when his turn came, I sat up
all the time at first & then went
the last time round the horses. We
gave up watch to Crawford at 2 A.M.
At ½ past 3 we got up & packed
but when we were ready to start
at ¼ past 4, there were some
