June 1883
when one's appetite is bad
it is almost impossible
to get such food down.
I have been living today
on dry toast & condensed
milk to drink (we happened
to have 1 tin left, there
is none on the Station.
Yesterday evening just as we
were sitting down to tea a
Mr. Mc.Fee [McPhee] & a Mr. Jones with
a man & 2 blacks boys came.
The former on his way out
to meet some cattle coming
from Normanton & the latter
going to take Mr.
Goss's place at the Powell.
They will be going away in
a day or two I suppose. They
were expected of course having
had wires from the Katherine.
Sunday 3rd
I remained in bed until 2 or 3
this afternoon feeling very
unwell. I got up and sat
in a canvass chair then, but
did not go out of my room.
