June [1883]
4, the gentlemen took us out for
a row on the river, which is
close to the Station. We could
only go a little distance owing
to shallow water. Yesterday
afternoon Mr. Giles (the
manager of a Station ("Springvale"
about 7 miles from
here) came over on business.
He has his wife at the Station,
but she did not come with
him. He asked Harry if we
would go & stay with him
before we leave for Port Darwin.
Friday 15th
Oh! dear I wish we were down
in Sydney or anywhere out
of this place. I am perfectly
wretched, being unwell &
out of sorts altogether. Every
thing goes wrong somehow.
