wharf, so we are anchored about a
mile out. Mr Milman the P.M. an
old friend of Harry's & 2 or 3 other gentlemen
came on board.

Saturday 1st

The steamer came to the wharf
at 11 or so, & we took Mrs. G to see the
town, & the chinese quarters. After
tiffin we went to see the Bauer's
& found only Miss B & the 3 little
ones there Mrs. B. & the others are
at their plantation 30 miles away.
We spent an hour with her then
went on board the "Corea" which
had just come in to see
Capt Lourie [Lowrie]. After dinner Harry
& I went again to spend the evening
with the Bauers. Mr. Fritz
Bauer the eldest son is there
for a few days. We met also a Mr.
Bostock & Mr. Warren. We got back
to the ship at 11, after having
spent a pleasant musical evening.
We sent a telegram to Papa to say
we were coming.

Sunday 2nd

We left the wharf at Cooktown at
7 A.M. & are now over more on our
way. It is a beautiful day, the sea
as calm as glass.
