Wellington bomber aircraft collided in mid-air with another aircraft over Oakely Aerodrome, near Aylesbury, on the night of 16th April, 1945. Flight Sergeant Matthews losing his life in the crash. He was buried in the Royal Air Force, Regional Cemetery at Oxford.
