421015 Corporal Wilfred Owen MILLING;
Widow: Mrs. M.B.N. Milling of London, England.

Wilfred Milling was born in Ireland, in September 1900. He served in the British Army from 1915 to 1919 and emigrated to New Zealand in 1937. When applying for enlistment in the Royal New Zealand Air Force in June 1942, he was a commercial traveller on his own account. Corporal Milling was enlisted as a cook at Rongotai on the 22nd August 1942, and served at Linton, in this capacity. He embarked for overseas service in the Pacific Area on the 13th September 1943 and was posted to Espiritu Santos and Guadalcanal before returning to New Zealand on the 4th April, 1944. After a period of leave, he proceeded to Ohakea for duty

Corporal Milling was admitted to the Auckland Public Hospital in November 1944 on account of illness, but died there on the 26th January 1945. He was buried in the Waikumete Cemetery, Auckland.
