421080 Leading Aircraftman Douglas MOIR.
Mother: Mrs. I.C. Moir of HAMILTON.

Douglas Moir was born at Gisborne on the 27th January 1922. He received his secondary education at the Hamilton Technical High School. He was employed in leadlight making with Beath and Champan, Limited, at Hamilton, at the time of applying for enlistment in aircrew, on the 27th October 1940.

Leading Aircraftman Moir was enlisted at the Initial Training Wing, Levin, on the 8th February 1942, and posted to Harewood on the 5th April for his elementary flying training.

Leading Aircraftman Moir was the pilot of a Tiger Moth aircraft which crashed at West Eyreton, on the 6th June 1942, Leading Aircraftman Moir dying next day in Christchurch Public Hospital. He was cremated at Auckland.
