On his first operation undertaken as pilot of a Halifax bomber on the night of the 12th October 1942 against the target of Krefeld in Germany the aircraft failed to return to its base and all members of its crew including Flight Sergeant Moller were classified as missing. Later, information was received from a German source through the International Red Cross that he had lost his life and he was, in consequence, reclassified as missing believed killed in action.

(redacted Later still) Information was subsequently received that he had been buried in the Military Cemetery, Schleswig, Germany. Due time having elapsed his death was officially presumed to have occurred on the 1st October 1942 as the result of air operations.

After the cessation of hostilities his body was re-interred in the British Official Military Cemetery, Kiel, Germany.
